Lincolnia Hills is a quaint & quiet community tucked away from the hustle & bustle of DC metro life, but yet so close to it, that the commute to work is a breeze adding to life's simple pleasures of living in Lincolnia Hills. Lincolnia Hills is a neighborhood full of cul-de-sacs with sidewalk-lined streets everywhere - great for walking - and surrounded by nature. Lincolnia Hills is flanked by Dora Kelly Nature Park and Glen Hills Park with Holmes Run Stream and a nature trail, that also is a bike trail, running through them. You can ride the bike trail from Lincolnia Hills all the way to Old Town and link up with the Mount Vernon bike trail there, or simply enjoy throwing rocks "in the river," as my little ones like to do and observe the wildlife that abounds along the stream. In the spring Lincolnia Hills is especially beautiful with cherry blossoms and pear trees in bloom and lining the streets of the neighborhood. A meeting place for most of the neighborhood during the summer months is at the Parklawn Pool where most of the neighborhood's children learn to swim and might get their first job as a lifeguard.
Lincolnia Hills lies just outside the border of the development zone for the Beauregard Corridor Plan. This is a significant plan for redeveloping the West End of Alexandria that includes 800 acres of redevelopment. The plan includes new commercial spaces, new streets, a new fire station, and new mixed used development. Find out more about these redevelopment plans here or here.
Community events in Lincolnia Hills include an annual National Night Out block party the first Tuesday in August every year and a Spring Egg Hunt.
